“He is in love with what he makes. People can say what they want about ‘Heeramandi,’ but has anyone ever made something like this for television? It’s the most-watched show. It broke records. Mission accomplished. He has won, hands down,” Farida Jalal said with enthusiasm.
Expressing her eagerness to work with Bhansali again, she added, “I would love to be a part of anything he makes, and I won’t leave him. I am going to keep telling him, ‘I have to be a part of your film.'”
Meeting Bhansali for “Heeramandi”
Recalling her first meeting with Bhansali for the role in “Heeramandi,” Farida Jalal shared a heartfelt memory. She visited his studio and was thrilled to finally meet him.
“I remember sitting across him at the table and saying, ‘Today, a tick mark on my bucket list has been achieved because you called me.’ It took such a long time for him to call me. Why?” she reminisced.
During their conversation, Bhansali asked her about the film “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” to which she responded with high praise, mentioning that she thinks about the Alia Bhatt-starrer “all the time.”
Farida Jalal also compared Bhansali’s artistic vision to legendary filmmakers like Kamal Amrohi and Raj Kapoor, placing him among the greats of Indian cinema.
