Recently, producer Pahlaj Nihalani clarified Govinda’s confusion about being offered a role in James Cameron’s “Avatar,” stating that the actor misunderstood.
The Mix-Up Over Avatar
In a recent interview with Friday Talkies, former Central Board of Film Certification Chief and producer Pahlaj Nihalani addressed actor Govinda’s claim that he was offered a role in James Cameron’s “Avatar.” Nihalani explained that Govinda had actually confused Cameron’s film with a different project.
Nihalani’s Explanation
Nihalani, who had worked with Govinda on an unfinished Hindi film titled “Avatar,” mentioned that this project was unrelated to James Cameron’s movie. He had directed around 40 minutes of this film with Govinda, which he considered some of his best work, but the project was ultimately shelved.
The Confusion
Nihalani humorously remarked, “Uske dimaag ka disc ghum gaya aur language Hindi se English mein chala gaya,” implying that Govinda got confused and mistakenly thought he was involved in Cameron’s “Avatar.”
Govinda’s Health Incident
Nihalani shared that during the production of their film, Govinda suggested putting the project on hold to pursue other opportunities. However, an unusual health incident occurred after Govinda consumed tea with almonds, causing him to feel unwell. This led to delays in the production as Govinda’s health fluctuated.
Govinda’s Career Challenges
Nihalani praised Govinda’s acting talent and dedication to his family, but also pointed out factors that may have contributed to his career decline. He noted that Govinda became increasingly superstitious, often making predictions about accidents on set, like chandeliers falling or actors drowning.
Impact on Filming
These superstitions, combined with Govinda’s tendency to be late, caused significant disruptions in their filming schedule. Nihalani recalled how Govinda would change his clothes based on his beliefs and refuse to perform certain tasks on specific days, ultimately affecting the success of his projects.
