Country music star Margo Price recently underwent rhinoplasty, embracing a positive change in her appearance. At 41, Price decided to address her long-standing issues with her nose and sinuses, sharing her journey openly with her fans. On July 10, she posted on Substack about her sinus surgery, septoplasty, and rhinoplasty. These procedures were necessary due to years of breathing difficulties, multiple broken noses, and ongoing criticism about her looks.

Facing Cyberbullying

Price opened up about the chronic cyberbullying she faced. In her post titled “As Plain as the Nose on My Face,” she talked about the online harassment she encountered whenever she expressed political views or appeared on TV. The constant bullying took a toll on her, making her feel like retreating from public life as her career advanced.

Struggles with Sinus Pressure and Media Messages

Margo explained that while she could handle the bullying about her looks, the sinus pressure was unbearable. She experienced migraines, blurred vision, and trouble breathing due to blocked sinuses, affecting her daily life and career.

She also mentioned her past struggles with drinking and drug use, which led to some of her broken noses. At one point, the pressure in her head was so intense she feared her eardrum might burst, only to find out it was due to blockages and bone spurs.

Reflecting on her decision to have surgery, Margo joked that if she was fixing health issues, she might as well take care of the cosmetic ones too.

Society’s Influence on Self-Image

As a young girl, Margo absorbed society’s messages from the media, believing that a girl’s worth was often tied to her appearance. She shared the pain of feeling inadequate, struggling with the belief that she would never be good enough because of her crooked nose. No amount of makeup, clothes, or hairstyles could change how she felt because the issue was always visible right in front of her face.

Working with Doctors

Price worked with Dr. Shawn Nasseri and Dr. Jason Champagne for her surgeries. Three months after the procedures, she noticed significant improvements in her breathing and singing.

Initially worried that her voice might change, Margo was relieved to find no difference. She admitted that accepting her new appearance was a tough journey. Fixing her nose didn’t solve everything as she had hoped.

Continuing to Struggle

Despite the surgeries, Price continued to struggle with her mental health. She felt it was important to be honest about this because she had fans who looked up to her. She found comfort in her loved ones and emphasized that music had always been her salvation, helping her manage her emotions.

In sharing her story, Margo Price hopes to inspire others facing similar struggles, showing that it’s okay to seek help and embrace change.
