Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, has made his acting debut with the film Maharaj, directed by Siddharth Malhotra. The Netflix movie, which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey, stirred controversy before its release but finally reached audiences on June 21 after a court order was lifted.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Junaid shared his feelings about the uncertainty surrounding his debut film. He described how the entire team felt nervous when Maharaj faced legal challenges. “We were all on edge a little bit,” he said. “But there was a lot of faith in the film from all of us and those who had seen it.”
The movie, which had been put on hold after objections from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, was cleared for release by the Gujarat High Court. This decision brought relief and excitement to Junaid and his team, who believed strongly in the sensitive handling of the film’s story.
Junaid also mentioned that his father, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, enjoyed the film. “He watches movies to have fun and doesn’t analyze them,” Junaid said, adding that his father viewed Maharaj as an audience member, which made his positive feedback even more special.
Maharaj features a talented cast, including Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey, with a special appearance by Sharvari Wagh. As Junaid Khan continues his journey in Bollywood, he is already working on another project with Aamir Khan Productions.
