Mia Goth stays hopeful about joining the MCU’s *Blade* despite production issues. She shared her thoughts at the premiere of her new film, MaXXXine.
*Mia Goth remains optimistic about her upcoming role in Marvel’s *Blade*. Speaking at the premiere of *MaXXXine*, Goth shared her excitement about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Despite delays, she expressed confidence in the project’s future.
Mia Goth’s Optimism for Marvel’s Blade
At the TCL Chinese Theatre premiere, Goth spoke with ET’s Ash Crossan about the ongoing delays affecting Blade. Goth, who will play the supernatural villain Lilith, shared her thoughts with Deadline, saying, “They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them, and that feels good.” She expressed her optimism to Entertainment Tonight, stating, “Yeah, I am. Very much so.”
Challenges Facing Blade
Blade, starring Mahershala Ali as the vampire hunter and Goth as Lilith, has faced multiple delays. Originally slated to begin in 2022, the film has lost two directors, Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange, and pre-production was further delayed by the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. Despite these setbacks, the film is scheduled for a November 2025 release.
Mia Goth’s Journey with MaXXXine
During the delays, Goth has starred in all three of Ti West’s horror films in the X trilogy: X, Pearl (a prequel), and now MaXXXine. In MaXXXine, she plays Maxine Minx, an ambitious actress in 1980s Los Angeles. Goth mentioned how her career has paralleled Maxine’s, stating, “In a very strange way. When we started filming this trilogy four years ago, I was in a very different place in my life, and from the moment I read X for the first time, I connected with her.” She added, “We’ve been on a similar trajectory, and I think it’s just helped inform the work.”
Looking Forward
Despite the challenges, Goth remains positive about Blade. The film’s script is being written by Eric Pearson, known for Agent Carter, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black Widow.
MaXXXine, co-starring Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Moses Sumney, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, Sophie Thatcher, and Kevin Bacon, hits theaters on July 5.
