The Controversy
Ranveer Singh received immense praise for his portrayal of Alauddin Khilji, revealing that he went to a “dark place” to truly embody the character. However, Prashant Narayanan dismissed Ranveer’s claims, calling them lies. Narayanan, known for taking on challenging roles, said, “He’s lying. Going into dark spaces and doing all these things is nonsense.”

In a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, one of Bollywood’s most respected method actors, expressed his support for Ranveer. Without directly naming Prashant, Nawazuddin questioned whether the critic had seen Ranveer’s process. He emphasized that it’s impossible to judge an actor’s approach, thoughts, or life while they are immersed in a complex role.
Nawazuddin called the remarks “irresponsible,” pointing out that iconic performances, like Heath Ledger’s Joker, come to life because the actor takes the role seriously. He explained that while anyone can memorize and deliver lines, truly memorable performances come from actors who draw on their own painful experiences to portray their characters authentically.

Nawazuddin was last seen in the film “Haddi,” which premiered on the OTT platform Zee5. He is currently promoting his latest film, “Rautu Ka Raaz,” also released on Zee5 on June 28. Directed by Anand Surapur, this mystery drama features Atul Tiwari, Rajesh Kumar, and Narayani Shastri in key roles.
