In a recent conversation, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore shared her thoughts on the film “Animal” and its impact on audiences. She remarked, “There was a film called Animal recently… beyond the violence, there was misogyny. But surprisingly, a lot of women in the audience said, ‘I want somebody to love me like that.’ Any film that becomes a hit can’t just be dismissed. We need to understand what exactly is resonating with the audience.”
Sharmila also discussed how the film “Laapataa Ladies” gained viewership when it was released on the same platform as “Animal.” She noted, “Laapataa Ladies did well even in theaters because it stayed within its budget, while Animal spent a lot of money and earned a lot too. There’s a clear difference in budgets, and this trend will continue. Smaller films will recover their costs, but not to the extent that big-budget films starring the likes of Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh will.”
