Exploring Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk In Love’ in a Country Twist

Tanner Adell recently shared her experience of creating a country rendition of Beyoncé’s iconic hit, “Drunk In Love,” for Apple Music Nashville Sessions. Originally released in 2013, Beyoncé’s song made waves with its trap beats and powerful bass, leaving a lasting impact on music lovers worldwide. Adell, a rising star in the country music scene, was inspired to reimagine the song after witnessing Beyoncé’s electrifying Coachella performance in 2018.

Crafting a Country Version
In an interview with PEOPLE, Adell disclosed her long-held desire to give “Drunk In Love” a country makeover. Her opportunity came through Apple Music’s initiative to feature black country artists covering Beyoncé’s songs. Adell’s rendition stands out with its blend of country vibes and the song’s original pop beats, highlighted by the twang of a pedal steel guitar.

“There are guitar riffs that lean into country territory, which somehow fit perfectly. Almost every country artist has a song about being intoxicated, so it felt like a natural fit,” Adell remarked.

Adell’s Unexpected Journey
Reflecting on her unexpected feature in Beyoncé’s album “Cowboy Carter,” Adell expressed gratitude to her dedicated fan base for their unwavering support. She humorously acknowledged the surprise among new listeners discovering her music, contrasting it with her longtime fans who have been with her since the beginning of her musical journey.

“I’ve seen a lot of growth and interest, but what’s funny is that my loyal fans are like, ‘We’ve been here from the start!’ It’s been quite a journey,” Adell commented.
