Producer Ramesh Taurani recently addressed the rumors about Saif Ali Khan being replaced by Salman Khan in the film Race 3. He clarified why this decision was made and discussed his long-standing relationship with Saif Ali Khan.
Why Saif Ali Khan Wasn’t in Race 3
Ramesh Taurani, who produced the Race series, explained why Saif Ali Khan was not cast in Race 3 despite the previous success of the franchise. In an interview with Showsha, Taurani revealed that Saif’s recent movies had not performed well at the box office. Considering the high budget needed for Race 3, Taurani decided to cast Salman Khan instead.
Saif’s Reaction
Taurani acknowledged that Saif was upset about not being included in Race 3. However, Taurani emphasized that the decision was purely business-related and not personal. “Race 2 is still Saif’s biggest hit, but after that, he had a series of flops. Race is an expensive franchise, so it didn’t make sense to cast him in Race 3. He’s a very good actor, but it was a business decision,” Taurani explained.
Long-Time Collaboration
Discussing their history, Taurani recalled that the first film he worked on with Saif was “Kachche Dhaage.” He also mentioned an interesting incident from the making of “Kya Kehna.” Initially, Mukul Dev was supposed to play the lead role, but he failed to show up on the first day of shooting. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach Mukul, Taurani decided to offer the role to Saif.
A Lucky Break
When Saif was approached for “Kya Kehna,” he liked the script but faced three challenges: he was replacing Mukul Dev, the shoot was starting the next day, and he needed to arrange his own wardrobe. Despite these hurdles, Saif accepted the role and was ready for the shoot, bringing his own suits. Taurani noted that Saif’s willingness and readiness were crucial, and fortunately, he had the necessary outfits.
Saif Ali Khan’s Current Projects
Currently, Saif Ali Khan is working on his next film, “Jewel Thief.” He is collaborating with Jaideep Ahlawat on this action-thriller, which is produced by Siddharth Anand’s banner, Marflix. Pinkvilla was the first to report this exciting new project.
Through his candid explanations, Ramesh Taurani shed light on the professional decisions behind casting changes in the Race franchise and highlighted the enduring and adaptable nature of his working relationship with Saif Ali Khan.
